Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 16. The Argentine federal police have confirmed the news to the media. Argentina’s TN news channel was the first to report the news.
Photos of the hotel room where Liam Payne was staying before his death have led many to speculate that the singer had not been having a good time. According to the media, Liam had a very chaotic final moments of his life.
At the scene, the living room was in chaos with broken objects and a smashed TV screen.
More disturbing details were discovered on the room’s desk, including a box of Dove soap, matches, candle residue, foil and a powdery substance believed to be cocaine. A lighter and a burned soda can lid were also discovered in the debris, painting a picture of desperation and chaos.
In the room’s bathtub, remnants of candles and foil were found, along with burn marks and stains indicating a chaotic atmosphere.
Police had earlier received a 911 call reporting “an aggressive man who may be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.” The hotel also said that before his death, Liam had been acting strangely in the hotel lobby, smashing his laptop and being carried back to his room by staff.
At the scene, police and medical staff from SAME (Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services system) confirmed that Liam Payne had died after falling from the third floor of the hotel. According to the determination, Liam Payne passed away at about 5:11 p.m. local time.
