The twin brother of a former Massachusetts police officer, accused of murdering Sandra Birchmore, engaged in a sexual encounter with her shortly before her death, knowing she was pregnant with his brother’s child.

William Farwell, 38, reportedly had sex with Birchmore in her Canton apartment parking lot on January 10, 2021, just 22 days before her suspected murder on February 1. He learned about her pregnancy in December 2020, as detailed in police records.

Birchmore was found strangled in her apartment on February 4, 2021. While her death was initially classified as a suicide, it was later investigated as a homicide, leading to charges against former Stoughton Police Officer Matthew Farwell for murder and tampering with evidence.

Both Farwell twins had a complex history with Birchmore, who allegedly had a relationship with Matthew when she was a minor involved in a police youth program. William and another officer faced accusations in a wrongful death lawsuit from Birchmore’s family, but only Matthew has been charged with her murder.
