After playing the King of Asgard for Marvel, Chris Hemsworth is now keen on embodying a prince for Disney.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, multiple outlets reported that Hemsworth, 41, is in talks to star in Prince Charming as the titular prince, a character best known as Cinderella’s love interest in Disney’s classic 1950 animated movie.

Wonka director Paul King is slated to direct and is cowriting the movie with screenwriters Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker, whom King has collaborated with before on films like Paddington 2.

The Prince Charming character is best known for his appearance in Cinderella, though the moniker “Prince Charming” is often applied to the love interest of any number of Disney princess movies over the years. According to Deadline, the Prince Charming film “will not specifically be linked to Cinderella.”

Representatives for Disney and Hemsworth did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Hemsworth is no stranger to Disney properties: he is best known for his long-running role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor, which he most recently reprised in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder and in season 2 of the Disney+ animated series What If…?

Hemsworth switched things up by portraying the villain Dementus in this year’s Mad Max prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and he also took on a voice role as Optimus Prime in Transformers One. The actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in May as he promoted Furiosa.

In June, Hemsworth addressed the potential for Thor’s future in the MCU during an interview with British GQ, stating he believed a future Thor movie “would have to be tonally different” following two films in the character’s solo series directed by Taika Waititi. “And we’d have to do something very drastic to keep people on their toes,” he said. “Otherwise it’s just the fatigue of those characters and those films, where people are like, ‘I’ve seen it.’ “

“But I really wanna do some other stuff for a while,” he added at that time.
