Madonna paid tribute to her late brother Christopher with a poignant visit to his grave in Michigan, less than one month after he died of cancer.

The pop superstar brought daughter Lourdes with her as she documented her trip to Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Mich. on her Instagram Stories on Friday, Oct. 25.

“Homecoming………….,” she wrote atop a photo of Christopher’s green marble gravestone, which featured his name, date of birth and date of death.

Madonna, 66, also shared photos of the red roses she left behind, as well as a picture of her kneeling at what appears to be her mother’s grave. The star’s mom, Madonna Fortin Ciccone, died in 1963 at 30 years old, when the star was just 5.

Lourdes, 28, also posed for a photo with her grandmother’s gravestone, and Madonna shared video of Levon Henry playing Duke Ellington’s “Single Petal of a Rose” on the saxophone.

In another emotional clip, the Grammy winner shared an old, black and white video of her kneeling at her mother’s grave while Christopher looks on, which she captioned, “Life is a Circle.”

The “Like a Virgin” singer also paid a visit to her grandmother’s house while back in her native Michigan, posing outside the home and writing, “When I was little, I thought my Nanoos house was a mansion!”

Christopher died on Oct. 4 at age 63. He and Madonna shared a close bond, as they worked together for much of her career. He was a dresser and creative consultant for his sister, and also was an interior design specialist, footwear designer, painter and memoirist.

Two days after his death, Madonna shared a heartfelt tribute to her late brother, writing, “He was the closest human to be for so long. It’s hard to explain our bond but it grew out of an understanding that we were different and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo.”

“We took each other’s hands and we danced through the madness of our childhood,” she continued. “In fact dance was a kind of superglue that held us together. Discovering dance in our small Midwestern town saved me and then my brother came along and it saved him too.”

The star said that although they’d had a difficult few years and “did not speak for some time,” they made their way back to one another when Christopher got sick.

“There will never be anyone like him. I know he’s dancing somewhere. 💔,” she wrote.
